Burns Lodge offers a choice of activities without even leaving the farm. One part of the farm itself works with beef cattle, sheep, boer goats as well as growing both maize and lucerne and our guests are welcome to wander around and see for themselves the working of such a farm. Right outside the lodge is a large dam which attracts a variety of water fowl such as coots, ducks and spurwing geese (wilde makou). The dam is also great for swimming and boating. There are canoes and paddle skis but you are also welcome to bring your own. (Activities on the dam are, of course, at your own risk). The other part of our farm consists of rolling veld and is kept in a state of nature. Here there are eight different types of antelope to be seen including Zebra, Blue Wildebeest and Lechwe. Here there is a greater variety of birdlife and another dam which is visited by fish eagles. Visitors are also welcome to explore the farm on mountain bike, off road bike or by 4x4. Off the farm, let us arrange the following for you:
If you have any energy left, there is also sand boarding, tennis, squash, golf and bowls on offer. For everyone else, there are walks along the many fine beaches and in the nature reserves, scenic flights along the beautiful coastline or visits to the Shell Museum, Seal Point lighthouse and the Penguin Rescue Centre. Within a day trip's range are the Gamtoos River valley, the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area, Port Elizabeth and Addo Elephant National Park. Never a dull moment at Burns Lodge!
